Well, not an oldie like a hymn or something, but a song I wrote so long ago that it was when I was on a worship team at a church, and we actually performed this song on Sunday mornings! Intercedes for Me references Exodus 32, Acts 7, Romans 8, and Hebrews 8. It's maybe the third song I wrote, so the music is very simple. We who believe have left Egypt, entered salvation, and can intercede for those around us just like Moses when argued with God that he shouldn't kill the Israelites because it would reflect on God's character. God agreed with Moses and relented from the judgment on the idol-worshiping sinners in the camp. They say God doesn't change his mind, but this is one of a few examples in scripture where God does change his mind against his judgements because a prophetic intercessor in relationship with him spoke with compassion and boldness. We can do this too!
Not everyone will intercede boldly all the time, just like not everyone will evangelize all the time, or preach, or any of the job-giftings we do. But, any of you can, so remember that. And, if any of you are deep intercessors, go bodly to the throne of grace, learn God's heart, know his ways, so you can effectively intercede with compassion that will stir God's own heart!
