Hi All,
I wrote my new favourite song! The works were piling up, and rather than redirect you to Suno or YouTube, I bit the bullet and bought the unlimited storage here for songs so you can download them for free! Everything new has been dropped in the album “Higher”, although for now it is out of order, and maybe those all don't belong there.
Let's talk about some songs that I added recently.
Oil on the Table was written in response to a dream that friend had and told me about. You may notice the song has a male voice. Generally speaking, even though the songs are generated by AI, I use a voice close to my own because it feels more genuine. It's a personal preference. But this song, I kept hearing in my head, before I wrote it, and it was a male singing.
Search Me is a song I wrote more than a decade ago. I though it was so simple that it would turn out boring. This one I had a melody to, but I actually wrote it before I could play guitar. To make the song, I recorded my own voice, A Capella, into Suno. I am amazed and pleased with how it turned out.
Next Exodus is another old song more than a decade old. (As I am writing this, I realize I actually have an 8th song to add here today!) This song takes seriously that everything written in old testament scripture is written for the the believer in Christ. It is an allegory about Israel leaving captivity and heading to the Promise Land as a picture of each Christian's sanctification process with Jesus.
A Call to Prayer is inspired by Madame Guyon's “A short and easy method of prayer” chapter 1. This book is rich with spiritual guidance and i have a mind to capture more of it in song, perhaps as an album of its own. It's free to listen to on LibriVox and probably other digital formats as well. (It's well beyond copyright.)
Truth Opposed and Anthem for our times I found in my journal today. They both came out of my personal prayer time with the Lord. Anthem is my new favourite song ever. I hope you like it, but even if no one else listens to any of these songs, I enjoy them.
Whirlwind is scripture-inspired, Nahum 1:3 “YHWH, slow to anger, and great in power, And YHWH does not entirely acquit, In a windstorm and in a storm, His way, And a cloud the dust of His feet.” Writing songs is one way I meditate on scripture.
The overall theme here, life can be chaotic, but Jesus is peace in the storm, and not only that, but He is using the storm to refine and change us, if we will just focus on Him and live out love.
Take care all! I'm going to go add that last song I missed!
