River Rise is another early work, from October 2013. This one is less meaty and was just some spiritual perspective I entered into at one point. The verse captures the idea that the river of God flows from heaven to God's people, empowering to walk by the spirit. It bids the people of God to wake from their slumber and enter the river of God where the Kingdom of God is released in power, peace, and joy, where the manifest presence of God is experienced.

I wrote the fast back in January 2014 while I was in a very hard place in my life. It is based on Isaiah 58, and Exodus 23:25-26. The song doesn't follow the current musically expected patterns (verse>chorus>verse>chorus>bridge) but challenges those conventions has an pre/post verse pattern, followed by four verses, which are broken up by an instrumental, that serves as a preview of the vocalized outro.

This is a weird season for me. My normal routine has been largely ripped away, and I find myself hidden on a mountain with infinite possibilities, and nearly no responsibilities. The last couple weeks brought clear confirmation about what to be doing with this time - write music! But also relief from the internal guilt and drive to do more than what the Lord has been asking. A new demo dropped. From a technical standpoint, I was trying very hard to keep time (so I can practice adding midi sounds, which this doesn't include), so the vocals are a bit tinny. Also, I didn't plan what I was doing so… looks like it's a nearly ten minute song. It doesn't need to be. But none-the-less, dropping this so it's available. Writing

A lot of these older songs, I don’t remember what was happening when I wrote them. This one, however, has tells. First off, I have the original prose, jotted down on scrap paper from my job. Oh yes, I was at work when I wrote this one – and I remember. The next, is the date: 12/3/2013.
