Sometimes it's hard to find time to enter the creative space. Last month when I took a few stabs at it, working on a Sidequest song, I just couldn't get it right. But today was different. Two songs posted.
Intercedes for me was a song I wrote before I knew chords. I had a melody, and the worship leader at church figured out the chord progression for me - and then we sang the song at church several times. She used to tell me the song was heavenly. She actually added the ‘watchmen’ part of the outro singing the some without me on a Friday night prayer service. I never thought the song was very good, and the Suno-produced version certainly doesn't capture what we in a tiny mountain church produced, but it's here never-the-less.
At the time I wrote it, I had no self-confidence. I wrote out all the scriptures it referenced. Here's what I listed: Mat 26;64, Mar 16:19, Luk 22:69, Act 2:33-34, Act 5:31, Act 7:55-56, Rom 8:34 (very important), Heb 1:3, Heb 1:13, Heb 8:1, Heb 10:12, Heb 12:2, 1Pe 3:22, 1Sa 2:25, Isa 59:16, Jer 7:16, Jer 27:18.
The other submission today, Princes of the King, is based on a passage from Isaiah 32, and interpreted with 1 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:6. I had planned for years to turn Isaiah 32 into a song, with little on the page. In early May this year, I expanded the song adding the second and third verses as well as the outro, but I just couldn't get the production right. Today I allowed Suno to suggest the ‘worship ballad’ genre I typically avoid, and it just felt right. Anthem for the Times is still my favourite song ever right now, but Princes is a deep prayer than really touches me when I listen.
I hope these two new additions will minister to you.
With that said, I'm moving on to a new phase. I'm taking on full-time employment, in addition to my three part-time gigs. I don't know that that changes anything here, as my participation and publication are sporatic. But, I do know that new chapters bring new insight. I am hopeful for this one.
